Went on a walk during my lunch. Started seeing more and more cops. Get several texts from coworkers verifying my whereabouts and telling me to stay away. See more cops. Ask cop what’s going on. He says suicidal man with gun. I rubberneck for a bit then decide to walk far out of the way because so much is on lockdown. Realize my wallet is in my office. Now I’m sitting in a shady spot dreaming of a liquid refreshment.

That’s one place I WOULDN’T leave it. Not that I work in a bad area by any means—I can only think of one incident the whole time I’ve been here. I just don’t trust things left in vehicles to remain safe.

That being said, the incident WAS a stolen vehicle, and I’m the kind of guy who will remove the couple dollars loose change if I go to a dealer for any reason. Heck, even a quick lube pit stop type oil change where I’m hovering over their shoulder the whole time.

I’ve been DD’ing one of these wallet cases for about 3 years now across a couple different iPhone models. Keeps my phone, prox key for work, bank card, drivers license and a $20 all in one spot that I always have on me. I realize that it may not work for everyone, but it has solved my forgotten wallet issues completely.

I’m sure you get used to it quickly when you live there, but when I visited Salt Lake City, the street names were about the most confusing of anywhere I’ve ever been. Great city, though - beautiful and full of nice people and cool things to do in my limited experience from a few days in town for a conference.

I like the idea, but I hate bulking up the phone. They’re too big as it is.

Besides, I’m paranoid enough about losing something as it is... I’ll already double or triple check my wallet to make sure I put everything back. I can just imagine what it would be like if I was taking that stuff out with my phone all the time.

As I recall there were two separate parts of town that had the same numbers but were completely unconnected and also there was something like 300 E and 300 W which were north-south roads that weren’t the same road because they were on opposite sides of some central point. The problem was, being from out of town I had no feel for where the middle of the layout was so I got turned around a bunch.

Like I said, it’s not for everyone, but it can work well. I’ve always been pretty good at not losing things. Heck, I still go running in a pair of Oakleys that I bought in 2004 and have replaced the rubber and lenses on, but I know people who won’t spend more than $10 on sunglasses because they lose them constantly.

its funny, because its literally just math. All the streets are laid out mathematically from a point in the center of town (temple square) i.e. 5th south is a east/west running street 5 blocks south of temple square, 1300 east is a north/south running street 13 blocks east of the square. In the event that a street has a name (like state street or main) it also has a e/n/s/w name underneath the name on the sigh. Easy peasy.

I like SLC, but the really neat stuff is out of town a little ways. The city aint too bad though, and its easy to get around.
